Aquila Resources Limited is engaged in the exploration, evaluation and development of coal, iron ore and manganese resources. It operates in three segments: Coal, Iron ore and Manganese. Coal segment encompasses mining, development, feasibility and exploration activities relating to the consolidated entity’s coal projects in Queensland and Botswana (the Asenjo Energy Coal Project). Iron ore segment encompasses feasibility and exploration activities relating to the consolidated entity’s iron ore projects in Australia (the West Pilbara Iron Ore Project, and South Africa (the Meletse Iron Ore Project and the Northern Cape Iron Ore Project). Manganese segment encompasses feasibility and exploration activities. In June 2014, Mineral Resources Ltd acquired a 12.481% interest in Aquila Resources Ltd. Effective July 25, 2014, Baosteel Resources Australia Pty Ltd and Aurizon Operations Ltd raised its interest to 98.49% from 19.79% by acquiring a further 78.7% interest, in Aquila Resources Ltd.
