Zhongpin Inc. is a holding company. The Company is engaged in the meat and food processing and distribution business in the People’s Republic of China. Through its subsidiaries, Henan Zhongpin Food Share Company Limited (Henan Zhongpin), the Company is engaged in the production of pork, prepared meat products and vegetables and fruits, and the retail sales of pork, processed pork products, vegetables and fruits and other grocery items to customers throughout the China. As of December 31, 2011, its product line included over 410 meat products, including chilled pork, frozen pork and prepared meats, and over 25 vegetable and fruit products. It sells these products on both a wholesale basis to 122 food companies in China, 136 processing factories and other purchasers, and on a retail basis through an exclusive network of showcase stores and supermarket counters.
