The Company operates through two segments: the Regulated Businesses and the Market-Based Businesses. Its Regulated Businesses segment involves the ownership of subsidiaries that provide water and wastewater utility services to residential, commercial, industrial and other customers, including sale for resale and public authority customers. The Market-Based Businesses segment provides water and wastewater services to military bases, municipalities, industrial, commercial and residential customers that are not subject to economic regulation by state Public Utility Commissions (PUCs). Its properties consist of transmission, distribution and collection pipes, water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping wells, tanks, meters, supply lines, dams, reservoirs, buildings, vehicles, land, easements, software rights, and other facilities and equipment.
