What are analysts saying about Gamestop Corporation stock?
Here are some recent quotes from research analysts about Gamestop Corporation stock:
According to Zacks Investment Research, "GameStop’s shares have been hit hard lately and have underperformed the industry in the past six months. The challenging retail landscape, aggressive promotional strategies and waning store traffic have been weighing on the company’s performance and this was also visible in the company’s holiday sales results. Total sales fell 16.4%, while comps declined 18.7%. Although GameStop disappointed with its overall performance, it remains optimistic about non-physical gaming businesses and anticipates this category to reach approximately 40% of earnings in fiscal 2016. Following a sluggish holiday season, management now expects comps to decline in the range of 10–12% in fiscal 2016 compared with the prior estimate of 6.5–9.5% decline. However, management reiterated its earnings projection. We also note that estimates have been witnessing a downtrend lately, ahead of its fourth-quarter fiscal 2016 earnings release." (2/2/2017)
- Robert W. Baird analysts commented, "SSS declines (-18.7% Y/Y) were primarily driven by lower ASPs (discounting) without a corresponding increase in unit volumes. Consistent with our prior field checks, Black Friday/Thanksgiving-weekend promotions were heavier than anticipated, reflecting slow category sales of both hardware and software. While growth trends improved to some degree in December, store traffic did not improve to the degree necessary to offset the November shortfall. Maintain Outperform, new $24 price target." (1/17/2017)
- Wedbush analysts commented, "We expect shares to trade at a compressed EPS multiple until it can successfully reverse the decline in its core video game business. Holiday same store sales were down 18.7%, well below prior Q4 guidance of down 12 ' 7%." (1/17/2017)
Pacific Crest analysts commented, "We maintain our stance that GME is on the wrong side of the mix shift to digital." (8/22/2016)
