Brookfield Total Return Fund Inc. (the Fund) is a diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fund's primary investment objective is to provide a high total return, including short and long-term capital gains and a high level of current income, through the active management of a portfolio of securities. It pursues this objective by investing and managing a portfolio consisting primarily of the United States treasury, mortgage-backed, asset-backed and high-yield corporate securities. The Fund's sector allocation includes commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), non-agency mortgage-backed securities (MBS), asset-backed securities (ABS) and corporate high yield, among others.
