The Index measures the performance of the basic materials industry of the United States equity market. The Fund invests in derivatives as a substitute for directly shorting stocks in order to gain inverse exposure to the Index. The Fund invests in financial instruments whose value is derived from the value of an underlying asset, interest rate or index. The Fund also invests in short-term cash instruments that have terms to maturity of less than 397 days and exhibit credit profiles. ProShare Advisors LLC is the investment advisor of the Fund.
