Dynegy Inc. (Dynegy) is a holding company and conducts the business operations through its subsidiaries. Dynegy’s primary business is the production and sale of electric energy, capacity and ancillary services from the fleet of 16 operating power plants in six states totaling approximately 11,600 megawatts of generating capacity. Its customers include Regional Transmission Organization (RTOs) and Independent System Operators (ISOs), integrated utilities, municipalities, electric cooperatives, transmission and distribution utilities, industrial customers, power marketers, financial participants, such as banks and hedge funds, and other power generators. Dynegy operates in three segments: the Coal segment (Coal), the Gas Segment (Gas) and the Dynegy Northeast Segment (DNE). In December 2013, the Company announced that its subsidiary, Illinois Power Holdings (IPH) completed its acquisition of New Ameren Energy Resources (AER), an Ameren subsidiary.
