About Southern Copper

Southern Copper (NYSE:SCCO) is one of the world’s largest integrated copper producers, with operations spanning the entire value chain from mining and milling to smelting and refining. The company specializes in the extraction of copper ore through large-scale open-pit mining and subsequently processes the material into copper concentrate, cathodes and rods. In addition to copper, Southern Copper produces significant volumes of molybdenum, silver and sulfuric acid, serving a broad array of industrial applications.

Operating primarily in Peru and Mexico, Southern Copper’s key mining complexes include Toquepala and Cuajone in southern Peru, along with La Caridad and Buenavista in northern Mexico. These sprawling sites are complemented by state-of-the-art smelters and refineries that convert mined ore into high-purity copper products. The company also maintains an extensive logistics network of rail, port and pipeline facilities to support efficient transport and export of its metals to global markets.

Founded in 1954, Southern Copper has evolved through strategic investments and expansions. In 2005, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Grupo México, which provided additional capital and technical expertise for modernizing its asset base. Since then, Southern Copper has pursued growth projects, drilling campaigns and environmental initiatives designed to enhance production capacity, reduce operating costs and strengthen community relations in its host regions.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Southern Copper is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Oscar González Rocha, supported by a management team with extensive experience in mining, metallurgy and sustainability. The company’s integrated business model and geographically diverse asset portfolio position it to meet long-term demand from industries such as consumer electronics, construction and renewable energy.
