What are Wall Street analysts saying about Ensco stock?
Here are some recent quotes from research analysts about Ensco stock:
- 1. According to Zacks Investment Research, "Ensco’s pricing chart is unimpressive and reflects weaknesses over the period of last one year. The company lost 42.6%, underperforming the industry’s 30.1% decrease. Since 2016, cash flow from core operations for Ensco has been declining steeply with no sign of improvement. Also, the company’s balance sheet started to show declining cash balances reflecting weak financials. The introduction of new and more stringent regulations following the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has made deepwater drilling activity prohibitively expensive for exploration and production companies, making many projects marginal. We believe that reduced rig operating days following lower utilization of floaters continue to hurt Ensco’s net cashflow. Considering these factors, we prefer to remain in the sidelines and wait for a better entry point." (1/8/2018)
- 2. Evercore ISI analysts commented, " We expect Ensco to continue generating strong cash flow from operations over the next couple of years as the offshore drilling market works through the extended downcycle, although FCF may turn negative for a quarter or two if the company ramps up capex to upgrade existing assets or reactivate preservation stacked floaters. The offshore sector has reached a different point of the cycle and Ensco is positioning itself for the eventual recovery. Meanwhile, Ensco retains full access to its $2.25 billion revolver for potential acquisitions of distressed assets or small 6-to-10 rig companies. Our 2018 estimates assumes Ensco reactivates one floater at 50% utilization and a $275kpd operating dayrate. We continue to rate the company Outperform with a $14 price target based on an 8.4x target multiple on our 2019 EBITDA estimate." (3/3/2017)
- 3. Jefferies Group LLC analysts commented, "Much higher opex guidance and reference to some expenses being incurred on a preservation stacked rig lead us to believe that ESV has its sights on a term floater fixture, and that it sees a steady stream of jackup awards forthcoming. Economics are likely to be poor (and near-term it hits our numbers), but it positions the company better long-term. ESV is our preferred Hold on contracting momentum and reasonable valuation (we see modest upside to fair value)." (3/1/2017)

Ensco (NYSE:ESV) Analysts' Consensus Rating (How are Consensus Ratings Calculated?)
MarketBeat calculates consensus analyst ratings for company stocks using the most recent rating from each brokerage that has rated a stock within the last twelve months. Since brokers often use different ratings systems, each rating is normalized to a standardized rating score of 1 (sell), 2 (hold), 3 (buy) or 4 (strong buy). Analyst consensus ratings scores are calculated using the mean average of the number of normalized sell, hold, buy and strong buy ratings from Wall Street analysts. Each stock's consensus analyst rating is derived from its calculated consensus ratings score (0-1.5 = Sell, 1.5-2.5 = Hold, 2.5-3.5 = Buy, >3.5 = Strong Buy). MarketBeat's consensus price targets are a mean average of the most recent available price targets set by each analyst that has set a price target for the stock in the last twelve months.
MarketBeat will no longer include ratings and price target data in its consensus calculation if a broker drops coverage and MarketBeat has received a report that coverage was dropped. Ratings from certain research firms that issue ratings using purely quantitative methods (such as Zacks, Vetr and ValuEngine) are not included in consensus calculations. MarketBeat's consensus ratings and consensus price targets may differ from those calculated by other firms due to differences in methodology and available data.
