" (10/26/2017)
- 2. Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. (The) analysts commented, "We add FCA to the Conviction List. Despite recent strong share performance (+28% over the last month), the market appears to remain sceptical of FCA’s earnings prospects. We believe this scepticism hinges on: 1) concern that US is at top of the cycle; 2) FCA’s financial leverage; and 3) FCA lagging peers technologically. However, in our view the market significantly underappreciates FCA’s ability to improve its NAFTA price-mix (despite a deteriorating US SAAR) via shifting production away from mass-market cars and into more profitable vehicles. We expect FCA to move from €4.7bn 2016E net debt to €3.2bn 2018E net cash (generating 56% of mkt cap in free cash). Catalyst We increase our 2017/18 EBIT estimates by 21%/36%, primarily driven by an improved price-mix as a result of FCA’s NAFTA product realignment, which we now model in greater detail. Updating for FX also modestly supports our improved view on earnings. Our revised 2017/18 EBIT estimates are 35%/44% ahead of the Reuters consensus." (1/8/2017)
