Kumba operates the Sishen and Kolomela mines in South Africa’s Northern Cape province. These operations produce ore that is transported by rail to the port of Saldanha Bay for export to international customers, while the company also serves domestic markets.

The company was established following the 2006 unbundling of Kumba Resources and is majority-owned by Anglo American plc. Kumba Iron Ore is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange under the symbol KIO, and its shares also trade over the counter in the United States under the symbol KUMBF.
