4th quarter 2023 operating expenses increased $4,600,000 to $179,300,000 as compared to the same period last year. The increase was due mostly to an increase in water production cost of $6,200,000 labor cost of $5,300,000 and depreciation and amortization expense of $3,200,000 which was partially offset by an increase in income tax benefit of 11,200,000 dollars Moving on to Slide 13, financial results Q4 2023. As discussed, net income does not include a revenue adjustment from the 2021 GRC due to the delay. For the Q4 of 2023, net income attributable to California Water Service Group was $30,100,000 and diluted earnings per share was $0.52 compared to net income of $19,600,000 and diluted earnings per share of $0.35 for the Q4 of 2022. The $10,600,000 increase was primarily due to $12,300,000 revenue increase from a decrease in deferred revenue, dollars 11,200,000 increase in income tax benefit and $2,800,000 increase in net other income, which was partially offset by expense increases of $6,200,000 in water production expenses, $5,300,000 in employee wages, dollars 3,400,000 in depreciation and amortization and $1,200,000 in financing costs.
