About Amtech Systems

Amtech Systems (NASDAQ:ASYS), headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, is a global developer and manufacturer of process equipment used in the production of solar photovoltaic cells, silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor substrates, and light‐emitting diode (LED) components. Since its founding in 1984, the company has expanded its technology portfolio to address the evolving needs of the renewable energy and power semiconductor industries. Amtech’s solutions aim to improve throughput, yield and quality in high‐volume manufacturing environments, helping customers reduce production costs and enhance device performance.

The company operates through two principal segments: Solar and Technical Ceramics. In its Solar segment, Amtech designs and supplies diffusion furnaces, etch and deposition equipment, and advanced cleaning and texturing systems for crystalline silicon and thin‐film photovoltaic cell lines. Its technical ceramics segment—marketed under brands such as Semco, Thermco and Proformance—offers sintering furnaces, substrate processing tools and quality‐control systems for silicon carbide and other advanced ceramic materials used in power electronics. These tailored solutions support the fabrication of high‐efficiency devices for electric vehicles, industrial motors, telecommunications and renewable energy inverters.

Amtech’s equipment is sold to manufacturers and research institutions in more than 20 countries, with significant customer bases in North America, Europe and Asia. Through a combination of direct sales representatives and strategic distributors, the company provides installation support, process optimization and aftermarket services to ensure high uptime and consistent performance. Its global footprint includes research and development centers, service hubs and spare parts depots that help maintain close collaboration with customers during all phases of equipment life cycles.

Under the leadership of President and Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Hurlston, who joined the company in 2011 and was appointed CEO in 2013, Amtech has pursued a strategy of targeted acquisitions and in‐house innovation. The company invests in advanced process control, automation and data analytics to support next‐generation device architectures and higher production yields. With a management team that combines semiconductor process expertise and global manufacturing experience, Amtech Systems continues to position itself as a key equipment partner for customers seeking enhanced efficiency and performance in renewable energy and power semiconductor markets.
