Minera Alamos (OTCMKTS:MAIFF) is a Canada-based mineral exploration and development company focused on the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of gold properties in Mexico. The company’s core strategy centers on advancing low‐cost, open‐pit heap‐leach gold projects toward production, leveraging Mexico’s well‐established mining infrastructure and favorable regulatory environment. Minera Alamos’ flagship asset is the Santana project in Sonora, where a fully permitted open‐pit, heap‐leach operation has been commissioned. Following its initial gold pour in late 2020, Santana entered a commercial production phase, producing gold dore via heap‐leach processing of oxide material. In addition to Santana, the company holds interest in the Cerro de Oro project in Zacatecas and the La Fortuna project in Durango, both of which host near-surface oxide gold mineralization suitable for similar heap‐leach development.
Since its incorporation in 2009 (formerly known as Zome Energy Corp.), Minera Alamos has deployed a disciplined approach to project evaluation, permitting and development, with an emphasis on rapid, low‐capital advancement to production. The company’s engineering and technical teams have applied trial leach pads and environmental baseline studies to de‐risk each asset, while maintaining strong community relationships in each project region. This approach has enabled Minera Alamos to demonstrate commercial viability on a modest scale prior to ramp‐up.
Leadership is headed by President and CEO Darren Koningen, who co‐founded the company and brings extensive experience in project development and operations management across multiple mining jurisdictions.
