Key Points

  • Robinhood is pursuing a broad ownership-focused strategy spanning active trading, integrated brokerage, banking, credit-card, wallet and retirement products, with AI used to personalize customer experiences.
  • Tokenization is central to its global expansion: Robinhood Chain offers roughly 200 tokenized U.S. stocks in more than 120 countries, while the company targets half of revenue from international and institutional customers over the long term.
  • Robinhood is expanding into wealth management and AI-powered trading, including managed accounts, retirement services, Trump Accounts, and agentic trading that supports equities, options and cryptocurrency, with prediction markets and futures planned.
  • Five stocks to consider instead of Robinhood Markets.

Robinhood Markets NASDAQ: HOOD is pursuing a strategy centered on expanding access to financial asset ownership, with priorities spanning active trading, broader consumer financial services and international infrastructure, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Vlad Tenev said during a discussion hosted by Goldman Sachs.

Tenev said the company’s activities can be grouped into three areas: building a platform for active traders, becoming a lifelong financial provider for younger generations, and developing a global financial ecosystem. He said Robinhood’s active-trader focus includes equities, options, prediction markets and other tradable assets.

“If I had to sum up the company in one word, it’s ownership,” Tenev said, describing ownership of high-quality financial assets as beneficial for investors and society.

Integrating Financial Products

Tenev said Robinhood is working to make its brokerage, credit card, banking, digital wallet and retirement offerings function as a cohesive customer relationship rather than isolated products. He pointed to the Robinhood Gold Card, which offers 3% cash back that must be redeemed into a brokerage account, as an example of a product designed to encourage investing alongside consumer spending.

He also highlighted the company’s yield offerings, including FDIC-insured cash sweep yield, checking and savings accounts provided through a partner, and a stablecoin-powered yield product called Robinhood Earn. Tenev said Robinhood Earn facilitates customers’ conversion of dollars into USDG, a stablecoin offered in partnership with Paxos, and then lends those assets on-chain to generate what he said is a 7% annual percentage yield.

As the company adds products, Tenev said it is investing in engineering, artificial intelligence and machine-learning capabilities to personalize the customer experience and avoid overwhelming users with product recommendations.

International and Institutional Ambitions

Tenev reiterated Robinhood’s longer-term goal for half of its revenue to come from outside the U.S. and half from institutional customers. He said tokenization could accelerate progress toward those targets.

The company’s Robinhood Chain offers tokenized representations of U.S. stocks, called stock tokens, that Tenev said are backed one-to-one and available in more than 120 countries outside the U.S. He said the chain has about 200 stock tokens, with additional assets planned.

According to Tenev, recent activity on Robinhood Chain has included billions of dollars of daily trading volume and gross revenue that reached as high as $6 million in a single day. He declined to annualize that figure. Tenev also said the chain’s growth since launch had exceeded the company’s expectations, citing developer activity, market-maker participation and consumer adoption.

He said the latest version of stock tokens was made available to decentralized-finance applications after previously operating in a more limited environment within Robinhood’s European app. That ability to be used in decentralized-finance pools and third-party smart contracts has driven activity, he said.

“We’re seeing developers doing things with stock tokens that we did not imagine, we could not have foreseen,” Tenev said.

Wealth, Retirement and Trump Accounts

Tenev described wealth management as an expanding opportunity for Robinhood, pointing to managed accounts through Robinhood Strategies, human advice through TradePMR, banking products, credit cards and retirement accounts. He said the company expects more than $100 trillion in wealth to change hands from older generations to younger generations over coming decades.

He also discussed Trump Accounts, which he described as accounts intended to allow children to invest in an S&P 500 exchange-traded fund. Tenev said accounts for children born in 2025 receive a $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury and that philanthropic contributions have begun reaching eligible accounts.

Robinhood is serving as the initial broker and trustee for the program, Tenev said, working with BNY Mellon, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service. He said the company’s objective is to build an ecosystem around the accounts and expand funding so that all eligible children under age 18 can have an account.

Tenev said Robinhood is also developing donor and employer experiences for the program, including tools that could make it easier for individuals to direct contributions to specific schools or communities.

Agentic Trading and Prediction Markets

Robinhood is continuing to broaden its agentic-trading tools, which allow artificial-intelligence agents to connect to a customer’s Robinhood account through an interface known as the Robinhood MCP, Tenev said. The product initially supported equities in separately funded accounts with tight controls, and the company subsequently added options and cryptocurrency.

Tenev said Robinhood ultimately plans to make additional assets, including prediction markets and futures, available through the service while maintaining safeguards. The company is also working to make the product accessible to customers without technical expertise.

On prediction markets, Tenev said sports contracts initially represented most activity, but categories including economic and cryptocurrency-related events have gained traction in recent months. He said prediction markets have also served as a customer-acquisition channel, with some users who enter through event contracts later opening retirement accounts or trading equities.

Robinhood plans to announce additional active-trader products at an event in Houston later in the month, Tenev said.
