Roblox NYSE: RBLX outlined a broad set of planned platform, Studio, avatar and engine updates at its developer conference, emphasizing AI-assisted creation, collaborative workflows, testing tools, improved game fidelity and new infrastructure for competitive and offline games.
The company said package overrides are scheduled to arrive later this year, allowing developers to publish updates to packages while maintaining local changes on individual instances. Roblox also announced that native branch-and-merge workflows are planned for Roblox Studio, with an early release targeted for next year. The tools will allow creators to work on separate branches, review changes and conflicts in Studio, and merge work back into a main branch. Roblox said the functionality will be backed by APIs for use in agentic workflows.
AI Tools and Studio Testing
Roblox demonstrated Studio tools intended to speed up 3D creation. The company showed a workflow in which developers can generate a segmented 3D mesh from a text prompt, then use another prompt to add behavior, such as making windmill blades spin. It also discussed texture-generation tools that can update textures across multiple mesh parts, including support for 4K physically based rendering, or PBR, texture generation.
For terrain creation, Roblox highlighted custom terrain materials, native terrain paths and projected decals. Developers can create up to 64 unique terrain materials per game, according to the presentation. Terrain paths will allow creators to draw splines that modify terrain to create roads and other routes, while projected decals will add images and visual details to terrain surfaces.
The company also previewed expanded testing capabilities in Studio. Upcoming tools will enable simultaneous client and server views in a single testing session, let developers add and independently control multiple clients without restarting Studio, and support direct real-device connections to Team Test. Avatar Scalability and Creation

Roblox also discussed extending its SLIM technology to non-player characters. The company said SLIM, which uses lightweight proxy representations, reduced the number of displayed triangles by 93% and memory use by 60% in a simulated scene. Planned upgrades include support for NPCs and automatic regeneration of SLIM representations when an avatar changes equipped items.

Game Infrastructure, Safety and Offline Play
On the engine side, Roblox said native persistence for in-game content is coming soon. The feature will allow developers to persist arbitrary models, images and meshes created inside games, producing asset IDs scoped to the relevant game.

The new API is intended to give creators an opportunity to remove problematic content or players before a server is shut down.

A new Player Data Store, targeted for early access by year-end, is intended to handle transaction management, session locking, schemas, privacy requests and offline player-data workflows.
Engine Fidelity and Terrain Improvements
Roblox said it will begin releasing new primitive shapes later this year, including cones, capsules, discs and rounded versions of primitives. The company also highlighted mesh streaming, texture streaming and cloud-generated levels of detail as tools that can help developers increase asset fidelity while managing memory budgets.
