ECOtality, Inc. was an electric-transportation technology company focused on developing and deploying infrastructure for plug-in electric vehicles. Its activities included the manufacture and installation of electric-vehicle charging stations, charging-network management, and related software and services for residential, commercial, fleet and public-sector customers.

The company operated the Blink Network, a platform designed to connect EV drivers with charging stations and support station owners with monitoring, access management and payment services. ECOtality also participated in the U.S. Department of Energy’s EV Project, a large-scale initiative intended to expand charging infrastructure and study electric-vehicle charging behavior in several U.S. markets.

ECOtality filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2013, and its charging-network assets and related operations were subsequently acquired by Car Charging Group, which later became Blink Charging.
