Company Overview

ECOtality, Inc. was an electric-vehicle charging and transportation technology company that developed, manufactured and deployed charging systems for electric vehicles. Its products included the Blink charging network and related residential, commercial and public charging stations, as well as charging and battery-management systems designed for fleet and industrial applications.

The company served customers in the United States through partnerships with automakers, utilities, municipalities, businesses and government agencies. ECOtality was also involved in large-scale charging infrastructure initiatives, including the U.S. Department of Energy’s EV Project, which supported the installation and operation of charging stations in several major metropolitan areas.

ECOtality filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2013. Its charging-network assets and related operations were subsequently acquired by Car Charging Group, Inc., which later operated the Blink charging business. ECOtality is therefore primarily of historical interest rather than an active operating company.
