About Methanex

Methanex (NASDAQ:MEOH) is a Vancouver, Canada–based company and one of the world’s largest producers and suppliers of methanol. The company manufactures methanol, a key feedstock for a wide range of chemical products and industrial applications. Methanex markets its product to customers in energy, plastics, paints and coatings, and various chemical sectors, positioning the company as a critical link in the global supply chain for basic chemicals.

The company’s core product, methanol, serves as a building block for downstream chemicals such as formaldehyde, acetic acid and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE). Methanex also provides logistics and distribution services through its wholly owned shipping arm, Waterfront Shipping, facilitating delivery by sea to major markets worldwide. This integrated approach helps customers manage their supply needs efficiently.

Methanex operates six world-scale production facilities located strategically in North America, South America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Key sites include facilities in Geismar, Louisiana; Trinidad and Tobago; Chile; Belgium; and New Zealand. These geographically diversified plants are supported by a global commercial network that serves customers across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Founded in 1980, Methanex went public in the early 1990s and has grown through a combination of greenfield developments, joint ventures and strategic acquisitions. John J. Floren has served as president and chief executive officer since 2003, guiding the company’s expansion into new markets and technologies. Under its leadership team, Methanex continues to explore low-carbon methanol production pathways and strategic partnerships aimed at supporting global decarbonization efforts.
