About Lithium Americas

Lithium Americas (NYSE:LAC) is a lithium development company focused on advancing domestic battery-materials production in North America. Its principal asset is the Thacker Pass lithium project in Humboldt County, Nevada, one of the largest known lithium deposits in the United States. The project is designed to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate for use in electric vehicle batteries and other energy-storage applications.

Thacker Pass is being developed in phases and is expected to use a processing method intended to recover lithium from sedimentary claystone. The company has described the project as an integrated operation that would include mining, lithium extraction and production of battery-grade lithium carbonate. Lithium Americas is working with General Motors, which has entered into commercial and investment arrangements related to the project.

Lithium Americas became a standalone U.S.-focused company in 2023 following the separation of its U.S. and Argentina businesses. The Argentina operations, including the Cauchari-Olaroz lithium project, were separated into a different company, Lithium Argentina Corp. Lithium Americas is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, and is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Evans.
