BNP Paribas (OTCMKTS:BNPQY) is a diversified European banking group headquartered in Paris, France. The company provides banking and financial services to individual customers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, institutional investors and public-sector organizations. Its activities include retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, commercial real estate, insurance, asset management, wealth management, securities services and investment banking.
BNP Paribas organizes its operations into three principal business divisions: Commercial, Personal Banking & Services; Commercial, Corporate & Institutional Banking; and Investment & Protection Services. Through these divisions, the group offers deposit and lending products, payment and financing solutions, advisory and capital-markets services, custody and fund-administration services, as well as investment, savings and protection products.
The group was formed in 2000 through the merger of Banque Nationale de Paris and Paribas, although both organizations have longer histories in French and international banking. BNP Paribas serves customers across Europe and maintains operations in selected markets in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. Jean Lemierre serves as chairman, and Jean-Laurent Bonnafé is the group’s chief executive officer.
