About Federal Agricultural Mortgage

Federal Agricultural Mortgage (NYSE:AGM.A) Corporation, commonly known as Farmer Mac, is a federally chartered corporation that provides a secondary market for agricultural and rural loans in the United States. By purchasing eligible loans and providing financing, credit guarantees and other liquidity solutions, Farmer Mac helps lenders continue serving farmers, ranchers, rural homeowners, businesses and communities.

The company’s principal businesses include agricultural finance, rural utilities finance and renewable energy finance. Its products and services support loans secured by agricultural real estate, rural housing and other rural assets, as well as financing for rural electric cooperatives and renewable energy projects. Farmer Mac works with commercial banks, Farm Credit System institutions and other approved lenders rather than lending directly to most borrowers.

Congress established Farmer Mac in 1987, and the company began operations in 1988 as a government-sponsored enterprise focused on strengthening the availability of credit for agriculture and rural America. Its activities are conducted primarily across the United States. Farmer Mac is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Brad Nordholm.
