About Federal Agricultural Mortgage

Federal Agricultural Mortgage (NYSE:AGM), commonly known as Farmer Mac, is a federally chartered, shareholder-owned company that provides a secondary market for agricultural and rural credit. Established by Congress in 1988 under the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987, Farmer Mac is designed to improve the availability and affordability of financing for America’s agricultural and rural communities.

The company supports agricultural lenders by purchasing eligible loans and providing guarantees and other forms of credit enhancement. Its business includes financing for farm and ranch real estate, rural housing, rural utilities, and agricultural and renewable-energy projects. Through these activities, Farmer Mac helps lenders access capital and manage credit risk while extending financing to farmers, ranchers, rural homeowners, utilities, and related businesses.

Farmer Mac serves customers and lending institutions across the United States through a nationwide network of approved lenders, including commercial banks, agricultural credit associations, and other financial institutions. The company is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and operates under a congressional charter with oversight from the Farm Credit Administration.
