About Grocery Outlet

Grocery Outlet (NASDAQ:GO) operates a network of discount grocery stores in the United States under the Grocery Outlet banner. The company offers a broad selection of food and household products, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, packaged groceries, beverages, health and beauty items, and general merchandise.

Grocery Outlet’s business model is based on purchasing excess inventory, discontinued products, seasonal goods, and other opportunistic merchandise from manufacturers and distributors. These products are sold at discounted prices, and the assortment can vary significantly from store to store. Many locations are operated by independent owner-operators under agreements with the company.

Founded in 1946 as Cannery Sales, the company has expanded from its original California operations into a multi-state retailer serving communities primarily in the western and northeastern United States. Grocery Outlet became a publicly traded company in 2019 and is headquartered in Emeryville, California.
