About Transocean

Transocean (NYSE:RIG) is an offshore contract drilling company that provides drilling services to the international oil and gas industry. The company operates a fleet of mobile offshore drilling units, including ultra-deepwater and harsh-environment drillships and semisubmersible rigs, which are contracted by energy companies to drill exploration, appraisal and development wells.

Transocean’s services support offshore drilling programs in challenging environments around the world. Its operations have included activity in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, the North Sea, West Africa and other major offshore regions. The company’s fleet and technical capabilities are focused primarily on deepwater and ultra-deepwater projects, where specialized equipment and experienced crews are required.

Transocean traces its origins to 1926 and has expanded through industry consolidation, including its 2007 merger with GlobalSantaFe and acquisitions of Songa Offshore and Ocean Rig in 2018. Transocean Ltd. is incorporated in Switzerland and maintains significant operational and corporate activities in the United States. The company is led by Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Thigpen.
