About Freenet

Freenet (OTCMKTS:FRTAF) is a Germany-based telecommunications and media company that provides mobile communications, internet access and television services. Rather than operating a nationwide mobile network of its own, the company primarily markets services using network capacity from other telecommunications operators under its own brands and through partner brands.

Its mobile communications business includes voice and data plans, smartphones, connected devices and related services for private and business customers. Freenet distributes these offerings through digital sales channels and a broad retail network, including freenet stores and partner outlets. The company has also historically operated under the mobilcom-debitel brand, which was rebranded as freenet in 2022.

Freenet’s television and media activities include freenet TV, a platform for receiving private television channels through DVB-T2 HD, and waipu.tv, an internet-based television service offering live TV, recording and streaming features. The company also provides associated entertainment and digital media services. Its principal market is Germany, where it serves consumers through telecommunications, retail and online distribution channels.

The company traces its roots to the German mobile and internet businesses that developed around mobilcom and freenet in the 1990s. Freenet AG is headquartered in Büdelsdorf, Germany, and is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Its executive leadership has included Christoph Vilanek, who served as chief executive officer for many years.
