Tootsie Roll Industries (NYSE:TR) is a U.S.-based confectionery company best known for producing Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Pops. Headquartered in Chicago, the company manufactures a broad range of candy products, including fruit-flavored chews, gummies, mints and gum, under a portfolio of well-recognized brands. Its offerings are sold through mass-market retailers, convenience stores, specialty shops and vending channels.

The company traces its origins to 1896 when confectioner Leo Hirschfeld invented the Tootsie Roll in New York City. Incorporated as The Sweets Company of America in the early 20th century, it moved its operations to Chicago in 1917. In 1966 the firm adopted the name Tootsie Roll Industries and gradually expanded its brand lineup by introducing or acquiring products such as Dots, Junior Mints, Sugar Daddy and Dubble Bubble gum.

Today, Tootsie Roll Industries operates multiple manufacturing facilities in the United States and Mexico, supplying customers across North America and exporting to markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America. The company’s distribution network includes domestic and international wholesalers, distributors and retail partners that service grocery, drugstore, discount and specialty channels.

Privately held by the Gordon family for several generations, Tootsie Roll Industries emphasizes continuity in its management approach. Members of the Gordon family occupy key executive roles, guiding long-term strategy, product innovation and operational efficiency to support the firm’s position in the global confectionery market.
