About Cenovus Energy

Cenovus Energy (NYSE:CVE). is a Canadian integrated energy company engaged in the exploration, development and production of crude oil, natural gas liquids and natural gas, together with downstream refining and marketing activities. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Cenovus operates a mix of oil sands thermal and dilbit assets, conventional oil and gas properties, and owns refining and midstream assets designed to move and process hydrocarbons into finished petroleum products for commercial markets.

The company was originally formed as a spin‑off from Encana Corporation in 2009 and has grown through organic development and strategic acquisitions. In 2021 Cenovus completed the acquisition of Husky Energy, a transaction that expanded its asset base, added offshore and conventional production, and brought integrated downstream capabilities into the combined company. These moves reshaped Cenovus into a larger, more diversified Canadian energy producer with an integrated upstream-to-downstream business model.

Cenovus’s producing asset portfolio includes major oil sands thermal projects such as Foster Creek and Christina Lake, conventional acreage in Western Canada, and offshore operations acquired through Husky that serve the Atlantic Canada region. Its downstream footprint includes refining and marketing operations that supply product to Canadian and U.S. markets, supported by midstream logistics that connect production hubs to refineries and export terminals. The company serves both domestic Canadian markets and international customers through crude and refined product sales and export channels.

Governed by a Calgary‑based executive team and board of directors, Cenovus emphasizes operational efficiency, capital discipline and value capture across the commodity cycle. The company has also publicly focused on lowering emissions intensity and pursuing technologies and practices to manage environmental performance as part of its longer‑term strategy. Cenovus’s integrated structure is intended to provide flexibility across market environments by combining production with processing and marketing capabilities.
