About Avidity Biosciences

Avidity Biosciences (NASDAQ:RNA) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing RNA therapeutics for diseases that have historically been difficult to treat with conventional drug-delivery methods. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in San Diego, California, the company develops medicines intended to address genetic disorders, with an emphasis on diseases affecting muscles.

Avidity’s proprietary Antibody Oligonucleotide Conjugate (AOC) platform combines the targeting capabilities of monoclonal antibodies with the gene-modifying potential of oligonucleotides, including small interfering RNA and antisense oligonucleotides. The approach is designed to help deliver RNA-based medicines into specific tissues and cells, where they can influence the production or processing of disease-related proteins.

The company’s pipeline includes delpacibart etedesiran, also known as del-desiran or AOC 1001, an investigational therapy for myotonic dystrophy type 1. Other clinical and preclinical programs have targeted conditions such as facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Avidity conducts research and clinical development activities through collaborations and studies involving patients and medical institutions in multiple regions. Sarah Boyce serves as the company’s president and chief executive officer.
