Cimpress NASDAQ: CMPR used its 2026 Investor Day to outline a strategy centered on higher-value customers, expanded offerings in “elevated products,” manufacturing and supply-chain efficiency, shared technology platforms and artificial intelligence.
Founder, Chairman and CEO Robert Keane said the company’s primary objective is increasing intrinsic value per share, with adjusted EBITDA serving as a measurable milestone. Cimpress reported fiscal 2026 revenue of $3.7 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $458 million. The company now targets at least $615 million in adjusted EBITDA for fiscal 2028, up from its prior target of at least $600 million.
Keane said Cimpress sees generative AI as a tailwind because easier creation of visual designs can increase demand for physical manifestations of those designs, including customized print, packaging, apparel and promotional products. He emphasized the company’s manufacturing footprint, supply-chain capabilities and mass-customization technology as differentiators in producing low-volume customized products quickly and at competitive prices.
High-value customers and elevated products
The company’s strategy focuses on expanding customer wallet share, particularly among higher-value small-business customers. Keane said Vistaprint increased annual variable gross profit per customer by 10% in fiscal 2026, accelerating from a roughly 7% multiyear compound annual growth rate since 2021.
Vistaprint CEO Florian Baumgartner said customers generating at least $650 in annual variable gross profit represented the company’s top 2% of customers but generated 32% of Vistaprint’s total variable gross profit in fiscal 2026. That group’s contribution has compounded at 17% annually, he said.
According to Baumgartner, these higher-value customers buy from twice as many product categories, order nearly six times more often and spend 3.4 times more per order than other customers. They are entering Vistaprint through categories such as promotional products, apparel, signage and marketing materials, rather than primarily through business cards.
Cimpress defines elevated products as categories including packaging, labels, apparel, signage, promotional products and gifts. In fiscal 2026, promotional products, apparel and gifts accounted for $825 million, or about 22%, of Cimpress revenue. Within Vistaprint, constant-currency revenue in that category rose 11% to more than $355 million, while variable gross profit increased 16%.
Keane said BoxUp in North America and Packstyle in Europe, Cimpress brands focused on packaging and labels, together recorded 33% constant-currency growth in fiscal 2026. Vistaprint launched more than 5,100 products during the year, with a focus on elevated categories, Baumgartner said.
Technology, AI and manufacturing network
Chief Technology Officer Maarten Wensveen highlighted the company’s Mass Customization Platform, or MCP, which connects Cimpress businesses, production facilities and third-party suppliers. Around €3 billion of Cimpress revenue flows through the platform, he said.
Cross-Cimpress production volume, measured by cost of goods, now totals about €80 million. Wensveen said efforts to route production across the shared network have produced more than €50 million in cumulative incremental variable gross profit since fiscal 2024.
AI-supported product onboarding has accelerated catalog expansion, according to Wensveen. Average monthly third-party product onboarding rose from about 800 products to 2,400 during the past 12 months, while products created by Cimpress businesses increased from 600 to 1,400 per month. At National Pen, he said automated product setup reduced the process from about two and a half months to minutes and lowered setup costs from about $300 to $6 per product.
Management also discussed applications of AI in customer service, retention, marketing, software development, product search, pricing and operations. Baumgartner said personalized placements generated 21% more variable gross profit year over year in fiscal 2026. He also said Vistaprint’s specialized high-value customer service teams are projected to generate $8 million in incremental variable gross profit in fiscal 2027.
In manufacturing, executives described focused production hubs for products including corrugated boxes, luxury bags, food packaging, labels, books and apparel. Vistaprint said its internal operational efforts generated about $8 million in manufacturing cost savings during fiscal 2026 through measures including carrier and packaging optimization, scrap reduction, labor productivity and procurement.
Outlook, cash flow and acquisitions
Chief Financial Officer Sean Quinn reiterated Cimpress’ fiscal 2027 outlook for at least 7% reported revenue growth and 3% organic constant-currency revenue growth. The company expects adjusted EBITDA of at least $520 million and approximately $200 million in free cash flow for the year.
For fiscal 2028, Cimpress expects 4% to 6% organic constant-currency revenue growth, adjusted EBITDA of at least $615 million and adjusted free cash flow of roughly $277 million. Quinn said the company expects approximately 45% of adjusted EBITDA to convert to adjusted free cash flow in fiscal 2028, as profitability rises and capital expenditures moderate.
The company expects cost-savings initiatives to contribute $25 million in fiscal 2027 and an additional $50 million in fiscal 2028. Cimpress expects net leverage to decline from 2.9 times trailing-12-month EBITDA at the end of fiscal 2026 to approximately 2.5 times at the end of fiscal 2027, with an opportunity to fall below 2.0 times exiting fiscal 2028.
Cimpress also highlighted four recent tuck-in acquisitions: Mixam, Truyol, Print Alliance and SAXOPRINT. The company deployed $117 million in net cash across the transactions, acquiring businesses with $235 million in trailing revenue and $21 million in trailing EBITDA before synergies. Quinn said Cimpress expects the acquired companies to add about $170 million in year-over-year revenue growth and $18 million to $21 million in adjusted EBITDA during fiscal 2027.
Keane said the company’s partnership with Canva has launched an initial suite of Cimpress-fulfilled products across North America, Europe and Brazil. He said the relationship is not exclusive and that Cimpress is growing quickly from a small base, though the company did not disclose financial details.
