Key Points

  • Interlink Electronics is pursuing a sensor-industry roll-up strategy, having completed four acquisitions since 2022 and planning to close a proposed U.S. precision-components acquisition within 8–10 weeks. The deal would add U.S. manufacturing capacity and defense and aerospace certifications.
  • The acquisitions have expanded Interlink’s offerings into gas and environmental sensors, printed electronics, membrane keypads, smart textiles and wearables. The company plans to cross-sell these technologies and develop integrated products for industrial, medical, automotive and consumer-electronics customers.
  • Interlink generated just under $12 million in revenue last year and expects pro forma 2025 revenue to exceed $45 million—or potentially $50 million if the pending deal closes. Management is targeting revenue above $100 million within approximately three years through organic growth and further acquisitions.

Interlink Electronics NASDAQ: LINK outlined its strategy to build a larger global sensing and printed-electronics platform through acquisitions, product cross-selling and expansion into additional manufacturing and end markets during the Lytham Partners Fall 2026 Investor Conference.

Steve Bronson, the company’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, said Interlink’s core focus is enabling smarter devices through sensing technologies. The company, founded in 1985 and publicly traded since 1996, invented Force Sensing Resistors, a technology designed to detect physical force or pressure rather than capacitive touch.

Bronson said the company identified the sensor and printed-electronics sector as a fragmented market suitable for consolidation more than four years ago. Since launching that strategy, Interlink has completed four acquisitions and has announced a fifth proposed acquisition.

Acquisition Strategy and Pending Transaction

Interlink acquired KWJ Engineering and SPEC Sensors in December 2022, adding gas, environmental and air-quality sensing capabilities. About three months later, it acquired Scotland-based Calman Technology, which brought printed-electronics and membrane-keypad capabilities, as well as manufacturing diversification outside of China.

In December 2024, Interlink acquired Conductive Transfers, a northern England-based company with proprietary smart-textile and wearable technology. Bronson said the technology has been used in medical shorts designed to create stimulation for women with incontinence issues.

In May, Interlink announced a non-binding letter of intent to acquire a privately held U.S. company focused on precision components and engineered solutions. Bronson said the proposed acquisition would expand Interlink’s U.S. manufacturing presence and provide defense and aerospace certifications that could support entry into those markets.

“Our goal is to close that transaction in the next 8-10 weeks,” Bronson said, adding that the company was confident it could complete the deal.

The company sees its acquisitions as a means to expand its product offerings, engineering resources and customer relationships. Bronson said Interlink intends to cross-sell acquired technologies to existing customers and develop products combining its sensor technologies with acquired capabilities, such as membrane keypads incorporating force sensing.

Global Footprint and Technology Portfolio

Interlink is headquartered in Fremont, California, and has operations in Scotland, northern England, Shenzhen, China, Hong Kong and Japan. Its manufacturing footprint includes operations in China and Scotland, while low- to medium-volume gas-sensor manufacturing is conducted in Fremont. The company also operates a Hong Kong distribution center and maintains a sales office near Tokyo.

The company’s offerings include printed electronics, force sensors, Force Sensing Resistors, piezoelectric sensors, wearable technologies and gas, environmental and air-quality sensors. Bronson said the company’s gas-sensing platform uses electrochemistry to detect a range of gases.

Interlink serves industrial, medical, automotive and consumer-electronics markets. Bronson cited robotic-assisted surgery as one application for the company’s force sensors. He also said the company supplied ring sensors used in ventilators for a medical customer and increased production fourfold during the COVID-19 pandemic to meet demand.

The company holds more than 49 patents and has 14 patent applications pending, according to Bronson. He said Interlink also relies on institutional knowledge, including the integration of firmware, software and intellectual property, as well as vertically integrated capabilities spanning prototyping, manufacturing and engineering.

Growth Targets and Financial Commentary

Bronson said Interlink returned to profitability during the second quarter, though he did not provide specific quarterly financial figures during the presentation. The company generated just under $12 million in revenue last year, he said.

Assuming completion of the pending acquisition, Bronson said Interlink expects pro forma 2025 revenue to exceed $45 million and described the transaction as potentially transformative. Later in the presentation, he said successful completion could put the company above $50 million in revenue this year. He also said the company expects “strong adjusted EBITDA” on a pro forma basis.

Looking further ahead, Interlink has set a goal of becoming a company with more than $100 million in revenue within approximately three years, through a combination of organic and acquisition-driven growth.

Bronson pointed to Measurement Specialties, a former publicly traded sensor company that pursued a roll-up strategy before its acquisition by TE Connectivity, as an example of consolidation in the sensor industry. He said Interlink believes continued fragmentation in the sector provides opportunities to broaden its technology portfolio and customer base.
