ServiceTitan NASDAQ: TTAN unveiled an AI-focused product strategy at its Pantheon 2026 event, introducing “Max,” which Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Ara Mahdessian described as a self-running, self-improving version of a contracting business.
Mahdessian framed the company’s AI strategy as the next major technology transition for the trades after cloud software. He said the scale of investment in AI infrastructure suggests the technology’s eventual role will extend beyond chatbots and individual workflow automations.
“The magnitude of this investment only makes sense if AI can completely revolutionize how we operate a business,” Mahdessian said. “A business that runs itself, and a business that gets better every day.”
From individual agents to coordinated operations
Mahdessian outlined a five-level AI maturity model. Early levels involve asking AI questions and automating individual workflows, such as answering calls, booking appointments or dispatching technicians. Higher levels involve coordinating automated workflows across a business and using results to improve future decisions.
For residential service contractors, he said ServiceTitan has built agents focused on demand generation, appointment booking, dispatch, sales, estimate follow-up and technician coaching. The company has developed 30 agents covering key workflows, he said.
Among the tools discussed were:
- A voice agent designed to handle calls and book appointments, particularly during off-hours or periods of high call volume.
- Voice intelligence tools intended to evaluate calls, assess whether leads were bookable and coach customer service representatives.
- Text and web-chat agents for responding to customer inquiries and booking appointments.
- Marketing tools for Google and Meta advertising, email campaigns, speed-to-lead responses and social publishing.
- Dispatch, sales proposal, financing, estimate follow-up and technician-coaching capabilities.
Mahdessian said independent agents can create conflicts when each optimizes only for its own metric. For example, marketing systems may continue seeking leads when a contractor’s schedule is full, or a high-value lead may not receive priority because dispatch systems lack the context gathered during an initial customer conversation.
To address those conflicts, ServiceTitan developed what Mahdessian called a coordination system. The system is designed to provide shared context, shared judgment, coordinated actions, arbitration between competing priorities and centralized supervision of agents.
Max targets “durable profit”
According to Mahdessian, Max combines ServiceTitan’s agents and Pro products with a coordination layer intended to optimize for “durable profit that recurs because customers are happy.” The platform is designed to use inputs such as customer conversations, home and equipment details, marketing sources, weather conditions, historical demand and technician capacity.
Mahdessian said the system can forecast demand, score leads, adjust marketing activity when schedules are full or expected to be light, and help prioritize technician capacity for higher-value opportunities. It is also intended to connect results back to the decisions that generated them, enabling its predictions and recommendations to improve over time.
He provided an illustrative example in which a contractor generates 10,000 leads, books 60% of them and produces an $800 average ticket, resulting in $4.8 million in revenue. At a hypothetical 10% profit margin, that would equal $480,000 in profit.
If each of those operational metrics improved by 10%, Mahdessian said revenue would rise to approximately $6.4 million. Assuming a 15% profit margin, profit would reach $960,000. He emphasized that the scenario was intended to show how gains across multiple metrics could compound, particularly when revenue growth does not require proportional increases in costs.
Availability and expansion plans
Mahdessian said contractors can adopt individual ServiceTitan agents, third-party agents or build their own agents through the company’s agentic operating system. Max is positioned as a more comprehensive option, including all 30 agents, all Pro products and a dedicated Max specialist to assist with implementation.
ServiceTitan began developing the approach with 50 contractor customers, according to Mahdessian. He said the company expects 700 locations to be using Max by the end of its fiscal year, including some new ServiceTitan customers that are adopting the product directly.
The initial presentation focused on residential service businesses, though Mahdessian said similar Max initiatives are underway for commercial contracting, construction, roofing and property-care customers.
Mahdessian said the trades have an advantage in adopting coordinated AI because many contractor operations already run through a single ServiceTitan platform, rather than across separate customer relationship management, marketing, inventory, payroll and scheduling systems.
“Last time, you caught up,” Mahdessian told attendees. “This time, you will lead.”
