Fresnillo plc was established in 2008 through the demerger of the Fresnillo mining interests from Industrias Peñoles and has historically maintained a close relationship with the Peñoles group. Its operations and exploration activities are concentrated in Mexico, where it has developed long-standing expertise in underground and open-pit mining as well as the processing of silver- and gold-bearing ores.
