It primarily invests in high-yield corporate fixed-income securities of varying maturities that are rated below-investment grade, including corporate bonds, debentures, notes, and commercial papers. The fund employs fundamental analysis and a long/short strategy, with a focus on such factors as type, size, and cost of a security, financial statements of the issuer, credit quality and cash flow of the issuer, and evaluation of the forces which influence the market to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the Bank of America Merill Lynch U.S. High Yield Master II Constrained Index.
