PPL Corporation (NYSE:PPL) is an energy and utility holding company headquartered in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Through its regulated utility subsidiaries, the company delivers electricity and natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers, while also operating and maintaining generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure.

PPL’s Pennsylvania operations are conducted through PPL Electric Utilities, which provides electric delivery service across much of central and eastern Pennsylvania. In Kentucky, Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities serve customers with electric and natural gas services. PPL also operates Rhode Island Energy, the state’s primary electric and natural gas utility, following its acquisition of the Narragansett Electric Company in 2022.

The company traces its history to the formation of Pennsylvania Power & Light in 1920. PPL has focused increasingly on regulated utility operations after previously owning businesses involved in competitive power generation and international utility markets.
