What are analysts saying about WPX Energy stock?
Here are some recent quotes from research analysts about WPX Energy stock:
According to Zacks Investment Research, "WPX Energy's fourth-quarter loss was narrower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Despite a loss, the outlook of the company looks strong owing to its focus on oil production assets. The company continues to work on its strategy of increasing oil production, evident from the rising liquid mix in total production. We believe WPX Energy's exposure in the Delaware, Williston and San Juan basins will enable it to achieve its goal of 30% higher oil generation in 2017 from 2016 levels. Further, the company continues to reshape portfolio by monetizing non-core assets, an initiative that is aiding lower debt levels and develop oil-based generation assets. Shares of the company returned higher than the broader industry in the last twelve months. However, the competitive energy space, ongoing volatility in crude oil prices and stringent regulations that are likely to increase the cost of drillings, remain woes." (2/27/2017)
- FBR & Co analysts commented, "We are updating our financial model following WPX's acquisition in the Delaware Basin, as announced late last week. We are positive on the transaction as it solidifies WPX's leading position in the play, at a reasonable price (refer to our prior note: Panther of the Wolfcamp). Our NAV-based price target declines to $19 (from $20) on deal-related dilution. We reaffirm our Outperform rating and Alpha Generator status on shares of WPX as we expect the company to deliver peerleading productivity gains and production growth this year." (1/17/2017)
