Founded in 2000 as a spin-off from Royal Dutch Shell, Avantium is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The company works with partners and customers internationally across the chemicals, materials, packaging and consumer-products industries. Its executive leadership has included Tom van Aken, who has served as chief executive officer and has been associated with the company’s efforts to commercialize renewable chemistry technologies.
