Centamin plc is a gold mining company focusing on the exploration, development and production of gold deposits. The company’s principal asset is the Sukari gold mine, which spans approximately 400 square kilometres in Egypt’s Eastern Desert. Sukari leverages conventional open pit and underground mining methods, with a processing facility incorporating crush, grind, gravity, carbon-in-leach and cyanide recovery circuits. Since beginning commercial production in 2010, Sukari has established itself as a significant low-cost producer in the region.

In addition to its flagship Egyptian operation, Centamin pursues exploration and development opportunities across West Africa, including permits in Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire. The company applies systematic geological and geophysical techniques to target both near-mine and greenfield opportunities, aiming to expand its resource base and extend mine life at Sukari while adding new projects to its portfolio.

Centamin was founded in 2005 following the merger of several exploration entities, building on regional exploration activity dating back to the mid-1990s. Headquartered in Jersey, Channel Islands, the company is governed by a board of directors and senior management team with extensive experience in mining and finance. Tim Heath serves as chief executive officer, leading corporate strategy and operations worldwide.
