Founded in Turin in 1837, Italgas is one of Europe’s oldest gas companies and has played a significant role in the development of Italy’s gas distribution system. The company was separated from Snam and returned to the Italian stock market in 2016. In addition to its traditional gas distribution business, Italgas has pursued network modernization, including the deployment of smart meters and technologies intended to improve operational efficiency and support the distribution of renewable gases.

Italgas operates primarily in Italy and expanded its international presence through the acquisition of DEPA Infrastructure in Greece in 2022. The group’s broader activities also include energy-efficiency services and infrastructure-related water services. Its operations are conducted through regulated local concessions, giving the company a substantial presence in communities across the Italian and Greek distribution markets.
