About West Japan Railway

West Japan Railway (OTCMKTS:WJRYY) Company, also known as JR West, is a Japanese transportation company that operates passenger railway services primarily in western Honshu and parts of the Hokuriku region. Its network serves major urban and regional markets, including Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Hiroshima and Kanazawa.

The company operates conventional rail lines as well as high-speed services, including the Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Hakata and the Hokuriku Shinkansen in cooperation with other Japan Railways companies. Its services support commuting, intercity travel and tourism across western Japan.

JR West also operates businesses that complement its railway activities, including retail operations at and around stations, commercial facilities, real estate, hotels and travel-related services. The company was established in 1987 following the privatization and regional breakup of the Japanese National Railways system.
