Mesabi Trust Press Release
Uncle Sam now owns 9.9% of Intel
On August 22, 2025, the U.S. government became one of Intel's largest shareholders - converting CHIPS Act grants into a 9.9% equity stake worth 8.9 billion dollars at 20.47 per share. Weeks earlier, the DoD took a 15% stake in rare-earth miner MP Materials, and the DOE followed with a 5% stake in Lithium Americas alongside a 2.23 billion dollar loan. Federal equity ownership in semiconductors, rare earths, and lithium - at this scale - hasn't happened since World War II. Porter Stansberry says the rules of investing are changing, and the stocks positioned to win this realignment aren't the ones the financial press is covering.tc pixel

About Mesabi Trust

Mesabi Trust (NYSE:MSB) (NYSE: MSB) is a passive royalty trust that holds royalty interests in iron ore properties located on Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range. The trust does not engage in mining operations directly but receives royalty payments based on the volume of iron ore shipped from the underlying properties. These payments are derived from production of iron ore concentrate and taconite pellets sold to domestic and international steel producers.

Established in December 2011, Mesabi Trust was formed through the consolidation of royalty interests contributed by several mining companies. The trust’s portfolio comprises 11 separate iron ore royalty properties that were previously owned or controlled by major mining concerns. Royalty rates are calculated per long ton of iron ore concentrate shipped, and revenues fluctuate in line with production levels at the mines subject to the trust’s royalty interests.

The properties underlying Mesabi Trust are operated by established mining companies under long-term leases and agreements, ensuring continuity of production on the Mesabi Range. The iron ore extracted from this region serves customers throughout North America and abroad, feeding blast furnaces and electric arc furnaces in the steelmaking industry. By owning royalty interests rather than operating mines, the trust offers investors exposure to iron ore production without direct operational risk.

Administrative and trustee services for Mesabi Trust are provided by U.S. Bank National Association, which acts as trustee under the trust agreement. As a Delaware statutory trust, Mesabi Trust distributes royalty revenues to unitholders, typically on a quarterly basis, subject to available cash and trust expenses. This structure allows investors to participate in the ongoing production from a historically significant iron ore district through a publicly traded vehicle.
