About AGNC Investment

AGNC Investment (NASDAQ:AGNCM) is a real estate investment trust that primarily invests in residential mortgage-backed securities for which principal and interest payments are guaranteed by a U.S. government-sponsored enterprise or U.S. government agency. Its portfolio generally includes mortgage securities issued or guaranteed by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae.

The company seeks to generate income through the difference between the returns on its investment portfolio and its borrowing costs. AGNC also uses financing arrangements, interest-rate hedges and other risk-management strategies to manage exposure to changes in interest rates, prepayment activity and mortgage-market conditions.

Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, AGNC Investment operates in the U.S. mortgage market and is internally managed. Peter Federico has served as the company’s president and chief executive officer since 2022. AGNCM represents the company’s Series M fixed-to-floating cumulative redeemable preferred stock depositary shares.
