About Central Japan Railway

Central Japan Railway (OTCMKTS:CJPRY) Co., Ltd., commonly known as JR Central, is a Japanese passenger railway company headquartered in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. The company was established in 1987 following the breakup and privatization of Japan National Railways and serves as one of the companies comprising the Japan Railways Group.

JR Central’s principal business is railway transportation, including operation of the Tokaido Shinkansen, which connects Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka through some of Japan’s most important business and population centers. The company also operates conventional railway lines primarily in the Chubu region, including services serving Aichi, Gifu, Shizuoka, Mie and surrounding areas.

In addition to passenger rail services, JR Central conducts related businesses such as retail, real estate development, hotel operations and other services connected with its railway network and stations. The company’s operations are particularly significant to travel and commerce between eastern and western Japan, while its regional rail services support daily commuting and local transportation in central Japan.
