About BioCryst Pharmaceuticals

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:BCRX) is a biotechnology company that discovers, develops and commercializes oral medicines for rare diseases. The company focuses on small-molecule therapies designed to address diseases with significant unmet medical needs, including hereditary angioedema and complement-mediated disorders.

BioCryst’s primary commercial product is Orladeyo (berotralstat), an oral plasma kallikrein inhibitor used to prevent attacks of hereditary angioedema in adults and pediatric patients. The company also maintains a research and development pipeline focused on potential treatments for rare diseases, including therapies that target the complement system.

Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, BioCryst has historically worked on antiviral and enzyme-targeted medicines. Its research contributed to peramivir, an antiviral later marketed as Rapivab for the treatment of influenza. BioCryst markets its products in the United States and select international markets, while using regional partnerships and distribution arrangements to serve additional geographies. The company is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Jon Stonehouse.
