About GlobalFoundries

GlobalFoundries (NASDAQ:GFS) is a semiconductor contract manufacturer that produces chips for customers without owning their own fabrication facilities. The company operates as a pure-play foundry, manufacturing semiconductors based on customers’ designs and supporting them through process development, wafer fabrication, packaging, and related services.

Its technology portfolio focuses on specialized semiconductor platforms rather than the most advanced leading-edge logic nodes. Products and services include radio-frequency technologies, analog and mixed-signal solutions, power management, embedded memory, silicon photonics, and automotive and industrial semiconductor platforms. These technologies support applications in automotive systems, communications infrastructure, smartphones, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, aerospace, and defense.

GlobalFoundries was established in 2009 through the separation of Advanced Micro Devices’ manufacturing operations, with investment from the Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala group. The company is headquartered in Malta, New York, and operates manufacturing and technology-development facilities in the United States, Germany, and Singapore, serving customers around the world. GlobalFoundries became a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq under the symbol GFS in 2021. Tim Breen serves as the company’s chief executive officer.
