Sempra, formerly known as Sempra Energy (NYSE:SRE), is an energy infrastructure company headquartered in San Diego, California. The company develops, owns and operates infrastructure that supports the delivery of electricity and natural gas, with operations focused primarily on North America.

Sempra’s principal businesses include regulated utilities and infrastructure development. Its California utilities, San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas, provide electric and natural gas services to customers in Southern California. Through Sempra Infrastructure, the company develops and operates energy infrastructure projects involving liquefied natural gas, natural gas, renewable energy, energy storage, transmission and related low-carbon solutions.

The company was formed in 1998 through the merger of Pacific Enterprises and Enova Corporation. Its infrastructure activities serve energy markets in the United States and Mexico, while its California utilities primarily serve customers in the southern and central parts of the state. Sempra is led by Jeffrey W. Martin, who serves as chairman and chief executive officer.
