Liberty Media Corporation’s Liberty Formula One Group represents the company’s ownership interest in Formula 1, the international motorsport series. Through Formula 1 and related subsidiaries, the group manages the commercial rights to the FIA Formula One World Championship, including race promotion, media and broadcasting rights, sponsorships, digital content, licensing, and hospitality activities.
Formula 1 serves a global audience through a championship staged across multiple regions, including Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific area. Its activities include organizing and promoting Grand Prix events, distributing race programming through television and digital platforms, developing official merchandise and licensing programs, and supporting fan engagement through digital products and experiences.
Liberty Media completed its acquisition of Formula 1’s parent company, Delta Topco, in 2017 from CVC Capital Partners. Liberty Media subsequently organized its Formula 1-related assets under the Liberty Formula One Group tracking-stock structure. Liberty Formula One Series B common stock, traded under the symbol FWONB, is a tracking stock designed to reflect the performance of that group rather than representing a separate operating corporation.
Liberty Media is chaired by John C. Malone. Formula 1’s day-to-day operations are led by Stefano Domenicali, who serves as president and chief executive officer of Formula 1. The group’s business is primarily centered on the global commercial and promotional management of Formula 1 and its associated media, sponsorship, licensing, and event-related activities.
