About Fomento Economico Mexicano

Fomento Económico Mexicano, S.A.B. de C.V. (FEMSA) is a Mexican multinational company active primarily in the retail and beverage sectors. Headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, FEMSA’s operations span convenience store retailing, beverage bottling and distribution, and related logistics and consumer services. The company’s business model combines high-frequency retail outlets with large-scale beverage production and a regional supply chain network.

FEMSA Comercio, the company’s retail arm, operates a large chain of convenience stores under the OXXO brand and has expanded its retail footprint with complementary formats and services. OXXO stores provide everyday consumer goods, prepared foods, bill payment and financial services, and other convenience offerings. In addition to stores, FEMSA has developed retail-related services such as fuel stations and in-store payment and fintech solutions that target frequent consumer transactions.

On the beverage side, FEMSA participates in bottling, distribution and merchandising activities primarily through its interests in Coca-Cola bottling operations and related partnerships. These activities encompass production of soft drinks, distribution to a wide network of retail customers and execution of merchandising and route-to-market services that support beverage sales across urban and rural channels. FEMSA also operates logistics and supply-chain businesses that provide warehousing, transportation and distribution services to its retail and beverage operations.

Founded and based in Monterrey, FEMSA has grown into a regional player with operations across Mexico and multiple markets in Latin America. The company has pursued growth through store expansion, service diversification and strategic partnerships in beverage bottling and logistics. FEMSA’s diversified platform — combining retail convenience, beverage bottling and logistics — positions it as a major participant in consumer-facing markets across the region.
