About MAIA Biotechnology

MAIA Biotechnology (NYSEAMERICAN:MAIA) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing targeted therapies for cancer. The company’s research centers on telomeres, protective structures at the ends of chromosomes that are maintained in many cancer cells through telomerase activity.

MAIA’s lead investigational product is THIO, also known as 6-thio-2’-deoxyguanosine (6-thio-dG). The compound is designed to be activated in telomerase-positive cancer cells, promoting telomere dysfunction and DNA damage that may lead to cancer-cell death. The company is also evaluating THIO in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors.

MAIA has advanced THIO into clinical development, including the THIO-101 Phase 2 study evaluating the therapy in patients with previously treated non-small cell lung cancer. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and is led by co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Vlad Vitoc.
