About Nextdoor

Nextdoor (NYSE:NXDR) operates Nextdoor, a neighborhood-focused social networking platform available through mobile applications and the web. The service enables people to connect with nearby residents, exchange local information, request and provide recommendations, share alerts, and discuss community issues. Users generally join neighborhood networks tied to their residential locations, helping Nextdoor support conversations based on geographic communities.

The platform also offers features for local businesses, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Businesses can create pages, engage with nearby customers, and advertise to local audiences, while public agencies can use Nextdoor to communicate information such as safety notices, emergency updates, and community announcements. Additional functionality includes local listings, events, groups, and the ability to seek or offer goods and services within a community.

Nextdoor was founded in 2008 by Nirav Tolia, Sarah Leary, Prakash Janakiraman, and David Wiesen. The company expanded beyond the United States to additional international markets, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and parts of Europe. Nextdoor became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021 following a business combination with a special purpose acquisition company. Nirav Tolia, a co-founder of Nextdoor, has served as the company’s chief executive officer.
